Brief Overview
Automating your link exchange with Link Exchange for Clients of Green Web Design takes
less than 10 minutes! In order to participate
in the link exchange, you MUST be able to complete
the following tasks before your website(s)
will show up in the exchange.
If you are unable to complete the following steps yourself,
ask
your webmaster to
log in and complete the process on your behalf. If
you don't have a webmaster, we recommend contacting
Green Web Design, who only
charges $10 per site added.
To use our link exchange, you will need to be able
to create a new PHP, ASP, or PERL file, and your
web hosting server will need to support one of these
three languages (PHP is the most common choice for
most web hosting companies). Name your file - for
example, you might name it "links.php". This file
can exactly match the look of your website, or it
can be a plain white page - just do whatever is easier
for you!
In your Linkubator control panel you will
see a "link page" button - this "link page"
allows you to choose whether your links page will
be PHP, ASP, or PERL (most people will choose PHP).
Copy and paste our code into your links page
in two places - there is one code that must be posted
in the <HEAD> tag, and there is a
second code that must be posted after the <BODY>
tag. Click
Here for an example (*will open in a new window).
Create
a link from the front page of your website (for example,
index.html, index.php, etc) and link it to links.php
page (or whatever you named it).
upload links.php
and the index file to your website using
any FTP program or web hosting file manager.
Go to your website in a browser and open the links.php
page to make sure that it is working
correctly. Copy the exact URL of your links page
(ex: http://www.yoursite.com/links.php) and paste
it into the linkubator control panel at step
4. under the "links page" button. Click
"Update Settings", and if everything is configured
correctly, you will now be
an active member of the link exchange!
